Nevada Humane Society's Walk for Animals

The Walk event includes a two-mile fun walk, High Desert Dive Dogs and K-9 demonstrations, musical entertainment, contests, face painting, pet services, refreshments and more. Four-legged walkers on leashes are welcome.

“Thousands of homeless dogs, cats and other animals count on us to provide lifesaving care and find loving homes for them,” said Bonney Brown, Executive Director of Nevada Humane Society. “Last year, we provided care and found new homes for over 8,000 animals and even more will need assistance this year. The average cost to save each animal is $260.”

The goal of the Walk is to raise $100,000 for the animals. Walkers are asked to seek sponsors, and prizes are offered for those raising at least $30 including Walk for Animals T-shirts featuring art by Pickles artist, Brian Crane. The top five fundraisers will receive one of several exciting prizes.

Individuals who want to help Washoe County animals, but can’t take part in the walk, can gather donations to sponsor the Nevada Humane Society Canine Walk Team.

The Walk for Animals will be held on June 7 regardless of weather. Registration runs from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The Walk and other festivities begin at 9 a.m. Free parking at the Marina and free shuttle service from Reed High School, 1350 Baring Blvd. will be available. Sparks Marina is located at 300 Howard Drive.
